THREE TIPS FOR WINTER TREADMILL TRAINING

With us entering the colder and darker time of the year, you might wonder how to continue all the good work you have put into your running over the summer. Treadmills are not everyone’s cup of tea, but there are ways you can use them over winter to keep you ticking over until the days get longer again. Here are three tips how to make the most of treadmill training.
  1. Set your gradient to 1%. Roads are never flat and this will allow you to simulate an outdoor environment better.
  2. Make a plan and keep it varied: Plan your training and include the functions on the treadmill to vary your training. Add hill runs, fartlek sessions, interval sessions, time trials, speed sessions, etc. to your training.
  3. Stay safe and have fun: Just as on the road, make sure you keep cool and hydrated. Watch TV for those long runs, just make sure to stay safe and keep your form. Or add your favourite music for extra motivation. Enjoy!
